We held “The Force Measurement and Force Gauge Workshop” on December 25, 2024, at the IMADA office for teachers from technical high schools in Aichi Prefecture. This workshop was made possible through consultations with one of our Japanese distributors, who primarily handles our products in the education industry.
Through the workshop, which consisted of two parts – lectures and trial measurements using force gauges – participants deepened their understanding of force measurement and force gauge. In the part of the lecture, we introduced the purpose and benefits of force measurement, as well as real measurement cases in private companies and presented ideas for implementing into high school classes.
Then teachers tried to use the force gauge as if they were demonstrating in the real class. Through the trail, they seemed to enable to learn the versatility and basic function of force gauges.
In the part of trial measurements, we moved to the laboratory (showroom) and conducted measurement using test stands and other equipment. As Aichi Prefecture is known for its thriving automotive industry, we asked the teachers to measure the tensile strength of wire harnesses. They found the process more challenging than anticipated, say proper clamping of the harness terminal, which made them recognize the value of dedicated auto testers.
In recent years, there has been a growing demand in technical high schools for hands-on training that meets the needs of private companies, focusing on acquiring skills that will be useful in future employment. Based on these demands, we carefully prepared the workshop content including practical measurement knowledge. I hope that this workshop will help students to gain an understanding of force measurement and force gauge at the classes.
